NIGERIA
The capital is Abuja. It borders with Niger, Chad, Cameroon and the Gulf of Guinea. The official language is English and more than 300 languages and dialects are spoken. Slightly more than 50% of the population is Muslim, 35% Christian and the rest animist.
RECOMMENDATIONS
- The visa is a mandatory document to enter the country.
- Avoid contact with rodents that can transmit Lassa fever, because there is no vaccine against the disease.
- Due to the insurgent group Boko Haram, it is recommended not to travel to the north of the country, to avoid agglomerations or places of wide concurrence.
- It is recommended, as with any country, to purchase a life insurance with international coverage.
- Do not leave the tourist circuits and use only authorized guides.
- Keep your consular protection telephone number handy.
- Since half of the population is Muslim, you must be very careful to and avoid any incident that could be interpreted as a lack of respect for that faith.
- Bring insect repellent and mosquito net.
VACCINATION
It is obligatory to be vaccinated against yellow fever. In addition, the following vaccines are recommended:
- Hepatitis A y B
- Tetanus
- Typhoid fever
- Meningitis
Preventive malaria treatment is also needed.
